to the southern ˝ of the United States for overseeding
- Poa Trivialis
Winterplay Poa trivialis is a new darker green
cultivar that more closely compliments the color of
perennial ryegrass and creeping Bentgrass for overseeding Bermudagrass
greens across the Southern ˝ of the United States. Winterplay
is genetically darker than other currently available
varieties, and can be used as a monostand when desired.
Winterplay has improved turf density and leaf
texture. It established quickly and transitions out
smoothly without lingering into the summer months.
Winterplay out-performed other commercial
roughstalk bluegrasses in the 1992-93 winter overseeding
trials in Scottsdale, Arizona. Once again,
outstanding color, density and texture gave Winterplay the
edge when seeded as a monoculture.
Winterplay will germinate in 7-10 days
with the first mowing 10-14 days after seeding.
Winterplay is compatible with ryegrass and
Bentgrass, and will tolerate close mowing from 1/8 to 1/10
inch. Fertilize as you would ryegrass or Bentgrass.
In a monostand, fertilize at the rate of 3-5 lb. of actual
N per 1,000 square feet annually.
